Nymphs and adults of the Orosanga japonicus leafhopper suck plant sap and secrete large amounts of honeydew, which subsequently attract sooty mold and cause the leaves to turn black. Population monitoring, spatial distribution determination, and host plant identification of O. japonicus are essential for planning its control as an emerging pest in our country. Therefore, during the years 2021 and 2022, seasonal fluctuations of the population of nymphs and adults of the leafhopper in a citrus orchard in western region of the Mazandaran Province, Nashtarood were studied from the beginning to the end of the activity. Also, the host plants of this pest were identified and the spatial distribution pattern of the nymphal and adult stages was determined using Taylor´s power low and Iwao´s patchiness regression method. According to two-year results, O. japonicus was active from late May to mid-September. In the first year of the study, peak populations were recorded for nymphs with a mean of 24.7 individuals and adults with a mean of 20.9 individuals in July and August, respectively. In the second year, peak populations occurred in late June for nymphs with a mean of 20.1 individuals and in August for adults with a mean of 14.8 individuals. The leafhopper was collected from 50 different types of plants, including fruitful and non-fruitful trees, crop and horticultural products, ornamentals and weeds. The spatial distribution of nymphs and adults was found to be random. This information can be used in integrated management programs for O. japonicus.
