Psilid flies have world wide distribution known with common name of Rust flies. All of their larvae are phytophagus, although some species are important crop pest, but they have not been studied and known in Iran. So, the collected insects from different parts of East Azerbaijan province during the years 2009-2013 were studied and the family Pesilidae was identified for the first time from Iran. In this study, four species, 2 genera and 2 subfamilies were identified which one of them is the pest of carrot being as a new record for the insect pest fauna of the country. Identified species are as follows: Chamaepsila atra (Meigen, 1826), C. nigricornis (Meigen, 1826), C. rosae (Fabricus, 1794) and Chyliza leptogaster (Panzer, 1798).
